Have You Got Your Spring Knits? Here Are The Designers You Need To Know About.

Handmade knits are truly a spring staple. Their comfortable design in fresh pastel hues means they’re destined for a space in your spring wardrobe. But, when it comes to purchasing spring knits, it’s easy to be drawn in by fast fashion labels who have little regard for sustainability or artisanal creation. With this in mind, we’ve gathered the couture designers who put sustainability and handmade magic at the forefront of their designs. So, if you’re ready to give everyone spring outfit envy, these designers are for you!

Kevin Germanier

Germanier’s dreamy upcycled crochet work sees sustainable fashion like never before. If you’re looking to up your sustainability game while staying on trend this season, Germanier’s innovative and exciting designs have reinvented the fashion game. Ex- Central Saint Martins student Kevin Germanier understood the gap in the market for sustainable handmade garments in the high fashion sphere, he uses crochet and beading to create futuristic and fun designs like corset illusion tees and rainbow denim jeans.

Germanier’s first-ever runway show this month was an explosion of colour and creativity that debuted Germanier’s beaded crochet technique. Dazzling tees and feather embellished garments in wonderous summer-ready hues are set to make your wardrobe pop this season.

Bailey Prado

Inspired by the authentic youth culture of London, Californian designer Bailey is our first point of call for spring knitwear. With an ethos of inspiring women of colour, the label’s colourful knits complete with cheeky noughties cut-outs and embellishments are this season’s must-have.

The designer produces original deconstructed knitwear from artisanal mini skirts to uniquely embellished balaclavas; all humbly crocheted by hand. The breathable garments are ideal for the upcoming sunny months, while Prado’s favour for pastel hues means her looks are made for this time of the year.

Maison Cleo

Models in Maison Cleo’s Spring/ Summer campaign (revealed to Instagram this week) are giving us major spring outfit envy. The mother/daughter owned label brings together their love for each other and handmade clothing to create stunning and sustainable knitwear. Mini- skirts, cropped tees, and mesh designs are all made to order in France- giving you the most authentic spring fashion experience.

The designers are beyond dedicated to their ethical ethos. Their pieces are made from wasted material, making a small but impactful step away from fast fashion.
