Dsquared Milano Fashion Week Digital
Day three of Milano Fashion Week Digital has been and gone with iconic Italian designers including Versace and Dsquared2 giving us exclusive previews into their up and coming collections. It was a day not to be missed, so we have caught you up on our favourite fashion highlights from the digital event.
Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini
Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini Resort 2021
Named as “The joy of dressing” Italian designer Lorenzo Serafini drew inspiration for his latest collection in the depths of lockdown, after feeling the sudden desire to get glammed, dressed up, and to celebrate the return to normal life; as we all felt during the lockdown. Hence, making it appropriate to inject a message of optimism and strength into this Spring 2021 collection.
To embody this emotion, the collection strikes a balance between ‘city glamour’ and ‘countryside elegance’, devised for the Philosophy girl. The collection is balanced out by leisurely looks, like a white floral detailed dress, a ribbed vest and a striped off the shoulder shirt, counteracted with extreme high waist jeans, a pink and black tartan corset paired with leather pants and a ruffled red polka dress. The use of layers integrated with each look gives an effortless glam for either day or night attire.
TODs: Studio Pre-Spring 2021
Tods Studio Pre-Spring 2021
Putting aside his concerns and apprehensions of the future, following a Covid-19 era, Creative Director of Tod’s, Walter Chiapponi, made a commitment to praise Tod’s craftsmen and the factory workers who’ve brought their designs to life.
The pre-spring line-up gives off a fall aesthetic with a muted palette motif through colored yarns and cotton. Jackets were a major part of this collection with a puffed red parka taking centre stage, a cropped biker jacket, and a khaki camo cargo jacket, all paired with casual attire to give a youthful underlay to the collection. Giving off a 70’s sporty vibe, with twists of sophistication and class, it’s a collection that is fashion-forward but keeping with their signature classical style.

Keeping in line with their signature athletic and street style aesthetic, Dsquared2 gave us a taste of their Pre-Spring/Summer 2021 collection to showcase their men’s and women wear in an exclusive MFW pass to their backstage set. The collection includes energetic, sporty pieces embellished with their iconic Dsquared2 logo and coloured details. Carefully selected technical fabrics, including nylon, cotton, maintain a casualness to the apparel seen in sweatshirts, oversized suits, denim, and pull over parkas.

Versace: Flash Collection
Versace could not have selected a more appropriate way to tease their up and coming Flash Collection. As soon as Donatella takes the reins and know we are in for a treat. Especially for Milano Fashion Week Digital, Versace not only gave us a live insight into their latest collection all the way from Milan itself but simultaneously, A J Tracy exclusively debuted his new track alongside models, showcasing the collection. Taking the digital fashion show to an entirely new level, we were presented with a very 1990s/noughties style music video. There was no glitz. There was a little glam. But it wasn’t needed. The clothes and AJ took centre stage.
Inspiration? Donatella spent the majority of her lockdown in Milan, like all of us, wondering about the pitfalls of sustainability in the fashion industry and came to the decision of ‘flash collections.’ Definition? A flash collection is a small collection that can be presented, produced, and delivered to stores faster than regular-sized collections. The idea? To reduce the overproduction of clothing that contributes to the fast fashion industry and to reduce waste that often comes with it.
Keeping in line with iconic Versace designs, the clothes with this collection are just as audacious and unapologetic as the designer herself. Mixing the iconic Medusa symbol with its most recognizable luxury print, the collection is balanced out with modest and sophisticated items that complement the “flashiness” of the collection. Cobalt blue, navy and snake print ash grey is the colour motif, flattered with hints of green and yellow, presents a slightly mysterious atmosphere to the collection that will not go ignored once the collection drops.

Numero 00: Vietato Non-Amare Men’s SS21
Numero 00: Vietato Non-Amare Men’s SS21 from Menswear
“Love is freedom. We are all equal” is the underlying message of Numero 00 SS21 collection. Titled “Vietato Non-Amare” the short film explores the relationship between love and freedom as Italian designer Valerio Farina shows how love is represented through people and places in honor of Milano Fashion Week Digital.
In light of the message he is portraying with this collection, fabrics and colour palettes were carefully selected in order to embody the freedom of expression and to reinforce the message that “we are all equal” in a time where we are chained with restrictions in the way we love and show expression. Block white and black, combined with sandy beige and baby blue, sit at the forefront of the collection that when combined with geometrical prints present a very urban and edgy collection, true to Numero 00’s name.
