Seen for years as an imperfection, freckles have become one of the most admired natural features as more and more people dare to bare all and embrace the natural beauty look. From the late 19th century into the early 20th century, freckles were an imperfection that needed to be banished, hence the introduction of vanishing creams that continued being advertised up to the 1950’s.
This shift in attitude was probably due to the drastic shift in lifestyle and fashion in the 1950’s as more and more women embraced tanned skin, representing a life of leisure and youth. This led onto freckles being more poignant and acceptable throughout the 60’s and right up to today.
Over the years, we have seen celebrities and models gracing covers and campaigns, sharing their beauty ‘blemishes’ and reinforcing how unique and powerful these beauty marks are. So desired in fact, that faux freckles has become a trend in itself, as seen at Preen’s S/S 15 show. Leading make-up artist Val Garland used a blend of products to create a natural freckle look which complimented the brand’s cricket inspired collection.
A new wave of edgy female is changing the face of the fashion world and we at Voir are behind them all the way. Take a look at these campaigns featuring some befreckled beauties.
