2023 is flying past, and before we even know it, it’ll be time to start planning our outfits for festival season again. So let’s get you all prepped up and ready for the most vibrant, lively and wonderful time of the year, by diving into some bold and brilliant makeup looks for you to try this summer.
Starry Eyes

This trend is for the daring makeup lovers out there, who are ready to try something sparkly and new. You can use stencils (or even try freehand if you’re really that brave) to paint a splash of stars across your eyes and face.
@ashleyrtistry_ on TikTok created this ethereal look by using white eyeshadow and star-shaped stencils to create some beautiful constellations across her face and under her eyes.
This look doesn’t have to be super over the top if you’re not feeling too daring yet. @gucciganggabbi on TikTok showed her followers a simplified version of the trend, resulting in a subtle, but still unique look.
Pearls Everywhere
Face pearls have been everywhere on social media recently, with creators using them in their own weird and wonderful ways to create some stunning designs on their faces and bodies.
Marika D’Auteuil shared a photo on Instagram of a look using silver pearls all around the model’s face, paired with a natural base. The pearls gave the look an exquisite glow and left people in the comments speechless.
Sometimes face pearls don’t have to make up the whole look and can simply be used to enhance what’s already there. Imma Puii (@immapuii on TikTok) showed us this in her 30-second tutorial where she used pearls to line her crease.
Luna Moth Makeup
Bold colours are gonna be back in town for summer, but if you’re struggling with a few colour combos, here’s an insect – stay with me here – that you can take some inspiration from. Luna moths are gorgeous insects that beauty gurus have fallen in love with. Lo on TikTok created a strikingly colourful look, taking inspiration from the luna moth’s colours.
Bold Halo Eyes
Halo eyes have been around for a very long time. But we’re tired of the basic neutrals and greys, so it’s time to add a bit of drama to this technique, by pairing the wildest contrasting colours to make for a dramatic result.
Gold Tears

Ever since SZA rocked this look at the 2018 met gala, the internet went crazy. And now that it’s nearly summer, it’s time for it to come back. A touch of gold makes any makeup look stand out and this look in particular is bound to turn some heads. While tears are seen as a sad thing, gold tears are far more exquisite, making them perfect for this year’s festival season. @illumin_arty on Instagram created this eccentric look and took it ten steps further by painting gold drops along her shoulders and topping the look off with a gold tiara.
@trinsmakeups went for 3D tears and gold stars in her take on the look.
