Superstar singer/songwriter, Camila Cabello, has just launched her latest single “Don’t Go Yet” — giving us all a brand-new version of her amazing exuberant pop sound.
The song (which will appear on her upcoming album, Familia), is the first release for the pop star in three years since her number one hit platinum album, Romance. The accompanying video was directed by Philippa Price and Pilar Zeta, and features visuals that are just as intense as the music itself — with a multi-generational party of dancers and singers dressed in dramatically fun looks reminiscent of the height of 80s party wear, which is very on-trend at the moment.
Big sleeves, playful ruffles, opulent jewellery and powerful colours abound freely in the video, all looking perfectly matched to the strong force of the sound itself.
On-trend in the video is Camila’s hair and makeup look, with the bright eyeshadows and stylised curls that are featured being some of the most popular styles amongst mega-influencers right now, including Camila herself.
Notably in the aesthetic of the video, is the substantial use of fashionable gloves — a trend we have noted has had a recent uptick on celebrities and influencers, along with being spotted on runways in collections by a variety of brands including Prabal Gurung and Fendi.
Camila shared her thoughts around her latest release on Twitter, saying that “#DontGoYet is the first song from my next album, Familia. This album was inspired by two things: family & food. Your family by blood, but also your chosen family. Who you want to sit at the dinner table, get wine-drunk, & dance in the living room with.” She also noted in other tweets that the video production was an authentic friends & family project, telling fans to “look for familiar faces in the end of video! You’ll see a lot of my family members, friends, and album collaborators in there.”
Familia will be the third album for the “Señorita” singer, who already has multiple Grammy nominations under her belt (including for “Best Pop Vocal Album” for her album Camila, and “Best Pop Solo Performance” for her massive hit single “Havana”).
Familia is not the only future premiere for Camila — she is also going to be making her acting debut in the titular role of the upcoming film Cinderella, which is set to be released on 3rd September.
