The statement eye trend has been sweeping the post-pandemic world and Dior’s haute couture Autumn/Winter 2021 show saw the models contrast feminine dresses with a punk-like eye.
Head of Christian Dior makeup Peter Phillips was the brains behind this masterpiece telling Vogue: “The look is elegant and a bit edgy. It’s a very graphic eye, but it’s got a bit of a soft edge. We actually went back to what we did for pre-fall, which was an under eyeliner, where I added glitter patches on top, which Maria Grazia really liked. But, we wanted to do it in an intense blue using a matte black and with the colour Denim from the 5 Couleurs Couture Eyeshadow Palette over it.”
Emphasis was on the eyes and the eyes alone, as the skin was kept matt and natural with a slight contour and eyebrows were naturally filled to compliment the model’s tone. If you want to get the full look, Dior has cited their Dior Forever Natural Bronze, Dior Addict Lip Glow and Dior Backstage Face and Body Powder-No-Powder.
Over on fashion, there was a celebration of hand-loomed tweeds and riding hats, while the show’s backdrop was created especially for the event by French artist Eva Jospin in the Rodin Museum which celebrates the savoir-faire and cultures of the world.
