Ever since Ariana Grande teamed up with Doja Cat and Megan Thee Stallion for their chart-topping ‘34+35’ remix, we’ve been waiting (rather impatiently) for the accompanying music video to drop too—and at long last, courtesy of Ariana herself, we have been given a sneak peek of what to expect when the video finally comes to air.
We can see that Ariana is still rocking her signature high-pony, but this time accompanied by cute 90’s hair accessories in the form of a white scrunchie and matching clips. Megan Thee Stallion has been given wine coloured high pigtails that cascade down to her elbows by hair stylist @kellonderyck, while Doja Cat wears a halo of black feathers atop a head of burgundy Hollywood curls created by @jstayready.
Their makeup is cohesively glamorous yet neutral toned, with a certain uniformity to be noted with their matte skin, softly defined eyebrows, and feathery lashes—the perfect inspiration for when we want to get glammed up again. For anyone wanting to recreate their looks but don’t know how, don’t sweat it—we’ve found out exactly which products Doja Cat’s makeup artist @ernestocasillas used along with the products we think Megan and Ariana are wearing. And we’ve even included some tips and tricks, just in case.
First up is Doja Cat, wearing a base of Tatcha Dewy Serum and Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Luminous Matte Foundationlayered with the Huda Beauty Tantour ‘Medium’ to sculpt the cheekbones, adding warmth with Cover FX Monochromatic Bronzer Duo ‘Sunkissed Bronze’ and Cover FX Blush ‘Mojave Mauve’, and then finishing off with a dousing of Huda Beauty Glow Coco Hydrating Mist. Don’t forget to moisturise the neck, chest, and shoulders with Leland Francis Body Serum before melting in the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter highlight powder across collarbones, shoulders, and down the arms.
To create her smouldering smokey eyes, Ernest used a variation of the cooler brown tones in the Viseart Paris ‘01 Neutral Mattes’ Palette to intensify her lower lash line, while illuminating her inner corner and eyelid with a myriad of lighter shades. We had to guess a little with her false lashes however, but we discovered that Doja Cat often stacks both of the Tatti Lashes ‘TL3’ and ‘TL6’ together for a volumized wispy effect. Brows however, we know they were definitely carefully groomed and defined using the Fenty Beauty Brow Pencil & Styler ‘Dark Auburn’ while lips are subtly outlined with NYX Cosmetics Slim Lip Pencil ‘Cappuccino’ focusing on the outer corners of the mouth, and kept natural and slightly glossy with a combination of the KKW Beauty ‘KKW x Mario Essentials’ Crème Lipstick and Gloss.
Megan Thee Stallion was made up by none other than Rihanna’s own makeup artist, @priscillaono, who is famous for her campaign looks for mega-brand Fenty Beauty. We can only guess that Priscilla used the new Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Matte Foundation, Instant Retouch Concealer, and Instant Retouch Setting Powder to create a flawless, full-coverage base, warmed up with the Sun Stalk’r Instant Warmth Bronzer. If anyone follows Priscilla on Instagram, they will know she has A LOT of eyeshadow palettes that she depots into her makeup kit, so we’ve found the Natasha Denona ‘Glam Palette’ to simplify things for us.
Create a half cut-crease using the lightest shades from the inner corner outwards, and finish off with a feline flick using Fenty Beauty Flyliner Longwear Liquid Eyeliner, rimming the waterline with the Tom Ford Eye Kohl Intense ‘Onyx’ and topping off with fluttery Tatti Lashes ‘TL4’. Out of the three, Megan’s lip are perhaps the most pronounced with a defined aubergine outline of the Nars Precision Lip Liner ‘Le Lavandou’, blended into MAC Cosmetics Satin Lipstick ‘Fleshpot’ and finished with a small amount of Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb ‘Glass Slipper’.
Now for the star herself, Ariana Grande, who was made up by her own personal makeup artist @chinchilla. Taking a look through various tutorials on Daniel Chinchilla’s Instagram feed, we’ve found out that he uses the Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear Foundation and adores the Chantecaille Real Skin+Eye and Face Stick Concealer, both of which fit the flawless matte finish that Ariana’s got going on. As the cheeks are left relatively untouched, we recommend lightly sculpting the cheekbones with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Blush Trio ‘Peachy Love’ while baking the under eyes, sides of the nose, and jawline for a few minutes with the Huda Beauty Easy Bake Loose Powder ‘Pound Cake’.
Eyes are kept relatively paired back to match the subtle base apart from her signature winged eyeliner using the KVD Vegan Beauty Tattoo Liner ‘Trooper Black’ mirrored by a parallel warm toned “floating liner” using a matte shade from the Huda Beauty Mercury Retrograde Palette. Mascara is kept to the bare minimum on the lower lashes, but we believe Ariana is wearing the delicately defined Tatti Lashes ‘Trending’ as the style matches with both Doja Cat and Megan Thee Stallion. Finish off by framing the eyes with carefully filled in eyebrows using Hourglass Arch™ Brow Micro Sculpting Pencil ‘Dark Brunette’.
Ariana doesn’t tend to wear obvious lip liners, so we suggest keeping it casual with a subtle outline of MAC Cosmetics Lip Pencil ‘Spice’ and a swipe of the Makeup Revolution Matte Lipstick ‘Raw 136’ to achieve her naturally full pout. Finish the entire look with some White Hair Clips at the hairline.
