Get ready for the floor because dance-pop saviour Ava Max is back with her second studio album Diamonds & Dancefloors releasing on the 27th January.
The American singer-songwriter, born Amanda Ava Koci, broke through in 2018 with her single ‘Sweet but Psycho’ which reached number one in 22 countries. From there she’s been unstoppable with her debut album Heaven & Hell peaking at number two on the UK album charts and at number 27 on the US Billboard 200. Since it’s released it has been certified as platinum in US and gold in the UK. Her single 2020 ‘My Head & My Heart’ is another club staple which has reached platinum in four countries and gold in three.
Her newest album features 14 tracks all bound to be electropop bangers including the four singles ‘Million Dollar Baby’, ‘Weapons’, ‘Dancing’s Done’, and the unforgettable lead single, which already has 27M views on YouTube, ‘Maybe You’re the Problem’. Gamers will also be thrilled to hear that ‘Million Dollar Baby’ will be featured in the 2023 Edition of Just Dance with Ava as the coach for the dance!
Diamonds & Dancefloor marks a new era for Ava. In February last year Max excited her fans by replacing her famous ‘Max Cut’ (an asymmetric peroxide blonde chop) with long cherry-red locks. In an interview at the Billboard Women in Music event back in March last year she revealed 2021 was the hardest year of her life and she spent a lot of it writing the album. She stated, ‘I’ve never written anything so personal and it’s probably some of the best music I’ve ever written. It’s still femme and pop and amazing but it’s different. It’s personal’. You can check out some of the teasers for the unreleased songs via the clips that Ava has posted on her Instagram!
Ava pulls influenced for her music from pop heroes such as Madonna, Marey Carey, Gwen Stefani, Beyoncé, Fergie, Britney, and Lady Gaga but has cultivated her own unique sound making her highly regarded by critics. Her personal style goes against the grain combining mesh, sparkles, and pops of colour that gives us fresh inspo for our own looks. With the album on its way here’s some pieces you can put together to emulate Ava’s immaculate style for fits that will be club ready.
Ava gets twisty with a satin button up tied to give it that ‘…Baby One More’ time look. Pair with a fierce snake print mini and white knee highs with some fluff leg warmers to match and you’re good to go.
Her glitzy glam NYE look is just dazzling. Ava served a killer look in a silver full length body suit with a metallic silver trench coat. Add a rhinestone necklace to complete the fit.
Ava jumped on the cut out top trend and we are so here for it. These pink distressed jeans are just to die for and add a real statement to any outfit. To accessorise pair with a crystal pendant necklace and a butterfly buckle belt that gives it a fun edge.
