The new Netflix series starring Lily Collins has already become one the most viewed series on the platform after just one week, even if the public’s opinion on its storyline remains divided.
The series consists of Emily, Lily Collins, a simple girl from Chicago that moves to Paris for work without knowing the language, and with her humour and positivity takes us with her on this new journey that’s plenty of food, love, challenges and much more.
Some love everything about it; the idealisation of life in Europe, fulfilling your dreams in one of the most romanticised cities, and using social media to document every step of the way. Others on the other hand are criticizing the various stereotypes presented by the characters and overall plot; from the exaggerated and hostile French label to the naive yet progressist American that aims to change the world.
Both sides are arguably right, but we believe that like with any other fictive series it shouldn’t be taken at face value, at the end of the day it’s entertainment that’s meant to help you detach from reality for a bit. If you are Sex & City lover you know you have to watch this, not only its a Darren Star creation that subliminally hints at what Carrie Bradshaw’s life could’ve been, but also because of the questionable fashion sense consistent thought the entire story.
If you’re not convinced by the amusing story, obvious cliches or good-looking characters your eyes will surely be drawn to her ‘interesting’ fashion choices.
Whether you love it or hate it, here’s a list of Emily’s stand out moments from the show:
