Join the maximalist revolution!

This season, a carnival of voluptuous shapes and vibrant colours topped off with an excess of embellishment paraded down the catwalks.

The intensely coloured fabrics, daring colour clashes, abundance of embellishment,

and exaggerated silhouettes that have been bombarding catwalks since last season have united as one, culminating in the birth of the trend that has appeared with an unapologetic BANG, and can only be described as ‘Over The Top’ fashion.

The tired historic view that ‘women should be seen and not heard’ has been redefined, as designers have taken it upon themselves to repudiate the ‘minimalist’ colour palettes and silhouettes we have become all too familiar and comfortable with. Continuing last season’s outlandish efforts from Marc Jacobs, Valentino and Tom Koizumi, this season, a carnival of voluptuous shapes and vibrant colours topped off with an excess of embellishment paraded down the catwalks.

Is it fate that this trend has boldly marched its way onto catwalks in anticipation of the numerous outfits you’ll need for the parties and events the festive season promises? We think so. Now is your chance to go bold or go home as the phrase ‘Is this too much’ has been given a long awaited redundancy.

If your personal style is more on the understated side, break yourself gently into this trend with a heavily embellished headband or brightly coloured clashing shoes. For the more fearless, find the jacket with the biggest shoulder pads, the dress with the most garish print, the most outrageous accessories and celebrate the unapologetic joy of standing out from the crowd! Go on, we dare you!
