Chanel’s longtime muse is now Chanel’s face. Global icon and BLACKPINK member Jennie, also fondly known as ‘Human Chanel’ or ‘Human Gucci’ because of her chic and captivating presence onstage, modeled for Chanel’s latest 2021/22 campaign ‘Coco Neige’. The K-POP idol has been an ambassador for Chanel since 2017 and the latest campaign has been shot by the legendary duo Inez and Vinoodh. From skimming her mother’s wardrobe as a child for vintage Chanel outfits to sporting the label’s outfits and attending their events, the collaboration comes as no surprise and is in sync with the label’s vision of leveraging the younger generation to head in a new direction.
The previous Coco Neige campaign featured, Margot Robbie as the face and now the flag has been relayed to Jennie. “I love to go out in the snow, doing winter sports. I really like how snow just makes you feel. Wearing these clothes makes me feel like I’m ready to ski tomorrow.”, said Jennie. She teases a taste of morphed sporty-glam style into the campaign as she sports a striking pink track set with etched typography; Dungarees paired with monochrome jumper; Jacquard cardigans paired with chic accessories from the Label. Needless to say, she looks, Pretty Savage. The mesh veil and pearl neckpiece paired with the sporty outfit releases an essence of the label’s fresh movement in the direction of experimental and edgy.
Only a week earlier when the netizens were going gaga over Jennie’s cute Chanel monogram top on one of her Instagram posts, fans now can’t wait for what comes next in this power-packed campaign and so can’t we. The Coco Neige campaign was released today and the collection is set to storm selected stores from October 19th, 2021.
