After debuting its A/W’22 collection at Milan Fashion Week back in February, Gucci has finally dropped the long-awaited accompanying campaign, fittingly titled ‘Exquisite’, inspired by iconic cinema scenes – so grab your popcorn.
Visualized by none other than Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele, the photo and video series features key looks from the Italian brand’s latest runway show as well as a collab with sportswear powerhouse Adidas.
Shot and directed by photographic duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, along with art direction by Christopher Simmonds, partnership with Warner Bros., and replicas of original costume designs curated by Milena Canonero and Charlotte Walter; the campaign transports viewers through a
surreal cinematic journey, paying homage to renowned filmmaker Stanley Kubrick’s most celebrated cross-genre works by replicating notable movie scenes including Barry Lyndon (1975), The Shining (1980), and Eyes Wide Shut (1999).

In the one-minute eccentric fashion film, models channelled iconic cinema characters in Gucci attire including sporty-glam Adidas suits and gowns, powerful faux-fur coats, autumn-ready pleated skirts as well as statement accessories and bags from the A/W’22 collection which will be available for purchase soon.
Channelling the gothic scenes of ‘The Shining’, a black sheer lace top is worn with a blue corduroy midi skirt, chunky leather belt, suede knee-high boots and a blue Gucci x Adidas cap for a retro look as well as a green trench coat and white knitted Gucci x Adidas co-ord on the floors of the spooky Overlook Hotel.
Inspired by the dystopian ‘Discovery One in 2001: A Space Odyssey’, an olive-coloured rebellious ruffled evening gown worn with lace tights and buckled leather boots is situated on a futuristic spaceship.
Endeavouring to create “short circuits”, Michele featured a white Victorian-esque Adidas x Gucci gown to create a tableau from ‘Barry Lyndon’.
Looking glam, the sensual darkness of ‘Eyes Wide Shut’ is presented through a faux-fur coat, green feathered silver drop earrings and bourgeois pearl embellishments.
Bringing the dapper energy, these blue and checkered Gucci x Adidas suits take centre stage in this ‘A Clockwork Orange’ imitation.
