Voir’s summer guide to the best oils, and oil-based products to keep you radiating all season long.
As Love Island has once again graced our screens with bronzed bodies that look as though they have stepped straight off a fragrance commercial set, us mere mortals may not be able to show off a similar six-pack, but we sure know how to make our dimples glow in the sun!
We have hand picked some of the best oils to prep so you too can feel island-ready.
1. Milk Makeup – Glow Oil Lip & Cheek
Milk have created a new, summery version of their iconic Lip & Cheek deodorant-style-sticks (one of our favourites), but this time lollypop coloured with shimmering pigments for that summer-ready glow. These oil based sticks are available in four colours for the perfect peachy pout, just bitten berry lip, or overall sun-bathing glow.
2. Nars – Oil-Infused Lip Tint in Orgasm
NARS caught on to how obsessed everyone was with their legendary Orgasm blush, and in celebration of 20 years of the iconic shade, they’ve released a limited-edition Orgasm collection just in time for the summer months. Apply this oil-infused lip tint for the perfect golden lip glow to turn ‘summer days into summer nights’, as the cheeky name suggests.
3. Milk Makeup – Sunshine Oil
This antioxidant packed oil serum is the ultimate pick me up to brighten up lack-lustre skin. Designed to create the perfect smoothed, brightened canvas for makeup application –Sunshine Oil is the ideal holiday essential this year to repair dried out, post-flight skin.
4. Ouai – Rose Hair & Body Oil
Created by Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid’s hair stylist Jen Atkin, Ouai has blown out of the water since its release in 2016, and is one of the most Instagrammed hair brands out there. Enriched with rosehip and shea oils, this multipurpose oil can be applied to the ends of worn-out dried ends, or smoothed over the body to give your legs and arms a glow from within – plus, according to the founder, “it smells like a yacht”.
5. Sunday Riley – C.E.O. Glow
This supercharged serum is one of the latest in Sunday Riley’s range of award winning serums and oils. Although vitamin C is a proven anti-aging ingredient, it’s also a wonder-ingredient for all skin types. Not only does it encourage collagen production (skin’s elasticity and firmness) but improves signs of scarring – so is great for acne sufferers too. Apply this in the morning for full-effect all over the face, neck and décolleté and reveal gloriously clear skin.
6. Fur – Oil
Going to get your monthly wax is never pleasant, however, this oil by American brand Fur is designed to keep your delicate area moisturised for smoother hair removal. It aims to stop ingrown hairs and keep hair softer, a win-win however you choose to shave, wax, or grow! Alongside their feminine exfoliating scrubs, this oil is a must-have for the upcoming bikini season.
7. Glossier – Body Hero Daily Oil Wash
Founder Emily Weiss created yet another cult-favourite for Glossier with their first body product last year. Designed not to strip and disrupt your skin’s natural moisture barrier, Body Hero turns from a silky oil to a moisturising frothy lather; made with no water, it promises to protect your skin’s natural pH, and is also gynaecologically tested safe. Avoid looking ashy this summer, as this is the model product for those of us who get a little lazy moisturising out of the shower.
8. Tom Ford Beauty– Soleil Blanc Shimmering Rose Gold Body Oil
This body oil is definitely an investment piece, but it will guarantee that you not only feel delicious, but look delicious too – as it moisturises while gold refracting shimmering particles have you feeling like Rihanna. Plus, it looks gorgeous on the bathroom counter when you’re not using it too.
9. Tan-Luxe – Wonder Oil
An illuminating self-tanning oil with an ingenious “cooling roller ball applicator”, which not only makes for effortless application but apparently helps to sculpt and smooth skin. A great alternative to the dreaded grimy fake tan mitts.
10. Laura Mercier – Infusion de Rose Nourishing Oil
Laura Mercier’s “mighty multi-tasking oil” is a must-have now in our handbags. It soothes dry lips, hand, cuticles, hair and skin – plus it smells like roses. A heavenly summery top-up-tonic for hydration.
