Paris fashion week finally comes to a close, but the statements, trends and mud that we’ve all had to trudge through this week will surely continue to plague us. If you thought Milan Fashion week had lots of twists, Paris fashion week really takes the cake. We are here to discuss one of the most pressing issues of the season, what’s in and what’s out for beauty. There’s undoubtedly been a shift this season, and we’re here to tell you all about it.
Barely There Brows at Vivienne Westwood
A return to the skinny brow is always met with controversy, particularly after the victims of the last hype attempted to thicken their eyebrows to acclimate to the thick brow trend. However, Vivienne Westwood is proving you don’t have to tweeze to get the look, a little bit of concealer and an eyebrow pencil can give you the defined, french flapper brow.
Bald Heads At YZY
Kanye has been very controversial this season for many reasons… which we won’t go into right now. Still, his futuristic brand YZY has roped in with the intergalactic beauty we’ve been getting on the runway this fall. Bald heads, usually worn alongside no eyebrows or makeup, were sported down the runway. The makeup artist behind the domes is of course the always cool Isamaya FFrench, and we’ll be interested to see if we get more bald heads as the seasons go on.
Decadent Beauty At SCHIAPARELLI
The models at Schiaparelli SS23 donned decadent beauty down the runway signalling the return to old Hollywood beauty we’ve seen crop up this season. Bold lips in intense reds, lined lips, light but refined eyeliner… all perfect with the gold accents that are equally as popular this season.
Lined Lips At Rui
The good people down at Rui decided to go for a rawer, less refined beauty direction this season. Bluntly lined dark lips with no lipstick, a classic 90s throwback, were extremely popular here and at a few others in Paris and matched the raw glamour trend well as an easy way to dress up a simple beauty look.
Untouched Beauty At Awake Mode
Perhaps the most notable trend this year is the fresh-face glamour we’ve been seeing everywhere from London to Paris to Milan. Perfect, glowing skin was seen across runways, and we’re sure this trend will continue into the winter.
Intense Liner At Lous Vuitton
Julia fox era eyeliner is here to stay! intense eye looks weren’t as popular in Paris compared to the other fashion weeks, but they certainly had their moment. Models at Louis Vuitton wore thick eyeliner looks that ended in a cat eye, perhaps another sign of our return to old Hollywood inspired looks.
Scene hair at Junya Watanabe
After the whispers of raccoon hair, we knew a scene resurgence was on our hands, and this season it’s nowhere as obvious as Junya Watanabe. Spiked-up dyed hair with intense side partings sweeping across the eye were all spotted on the models at the SS23 shows and we can say with almost complete certainty that the side parting is in again.
