Put Confidence First! Lizzo Launches YITTY Shapewear And Redefines Beauty.

Lizzo is a star who has always been at the forefront of the body positivity movement. From embracing her imperfections to wearing what she wants without worrying about societal stigmas, the Grammy award-winning star is a true inspiration. With the news that her shapewear line ‘YITTY’ (in collaboration with Fabletics) is set to drop on April 12th, the star brings us the empowering label we never knew we needed, defining itself as ‘a love letter to the big girls’.

Announcing the drop on her Instagram this week, Lizzo posed by a pool with a diverse group of women. The unified image of women linking arms while wearing YITTY’s shapewear was a vision of the female-forward message that the line represents. The powerful post even had stars from Sza to Mette Towley commenting in praise of the star’s ‘be who you are on your own terms’ caption.

While the line has not dropped yet, Lizzo gave us some much-needed spoilers of what the drop will look like on her Instagram live this week. Perched comfortably in YITTY’s electric blue two-piece, the star gave us the answers to our burning questions. First addressing YITTY’s size range, Lizzo revealed the line will run from XS to 6X, putting itself in the running for one of the most diverse and inclusive lines on the market. But, Lizzo refuses to get hung up on sizes, the star claimed that when purchasing from her line she doesn’t want customers to think about size in the traditional way, she sees size as a spectrum where everyone is included- claiming ‘it’s not big or small, it’s just your size’!

The star also spoiled us with insider info regarding the origins of the label’s abstract but fun name ‘YITTY’. The star told her followers that the name comes from a childhood nickname given to her by her beloved aunt- as if this line couldn’t get heartfelt enough!


The products in YITTY’s first drop are set to be like nothing else the shapewear market has seen before. The singer aimed to blur the lines between comfy wear and shapewear, so you can feel confident at the gym, by the pool, or you can wear them underneath your clothes as traditional shapewear. The collection takes the form of sports bras, leggings, and panties in imaginative and fun shades from ‘bossed up brown’ to ‘neon pink’. But, the feature setting YITTY apart from its competitors are the different levels of compression on offer, the line offers garments for those who like to feel supported and those who seek comfort instead.

While Lizzo has always been an advocate for women loving the skin they are in, the star admitted the message behind her shapewear line grew out of frustrations from within the media industry. Speaking out about her experiences, the star said she was ‘constantly being told through TV and magazines my body wasn’t good enough’. YITTY is a way to hit back at these haters, advocating for ‘radical inner confidence’ throughout the launch.

The brand’s positive ethos doesn’t stop at female empowerment though. The shapewear label is also dedicated to sustainability. Speaking to her followers, Lizzo admitted she ‘is passionate about the sustainability of this planet’, explaining that her line uses recycled fibres and packages wherever possible. YITTY is the shapewear line that just keeps on giving.
