The winter months can be incredibly harsh on your skin, with many experiencing dryness, sensitivity and breakouts once the initial coldness hits. Sub-zero temperatures and pesky spots may make you want to curl up in a ball at times, but with the countdown to Christmas well under way- there simply isn’t time to hibernate.
So whether you’ve been naughty or nice, Voir wants to help you achieve that winter glow this year.
It’s the thought that counts…
The party season can be a huge stress to your mind and body. The physical stresses your body has to battle at Christmas might include an increased consumption of alcohol or indulgent foods, a hectic schedule or a lack of sleep. While all of which can play a big part in the festive fun, the combination of all these factors can wreak havoc to your complexion…
It all starts from within, so cut down on the drinking where possible and remember to rest-up. If the partying is non-negotiable, simply remember to rehydrate on the following days and try to give yourself some silent nights.
Becoming an ice queen
Low temperatures can be damaging to the outer layers of your skin by causing micro-tears which allow water and oil to escape and disrupting your usual patterns of sebum production. This disturbance to your skins natural equilibrium can lead to patchy dryness, blemishes and spots. Ensuring your skin is well moisturised will help to prevent these tears and as such, reduce sensitivity and other unpleasant dermal symptoms induced by the cold.
Often, in the winter months, your usual moisturiser will not be nourishing enough to suffice and a thicker, creamier moisturiser can be advisable (dependent on your skin type).

It’s not what you asked for…
For those surprise blemishes that do break through, we recommend a cleanser- which is effective at preventing dirt and oil clogging your pores, and an on the spot anti-inflammatory treatment- as some all-over spot treatments can contribute to dryness, thus, making the problem worse.
Our favourite anti-spot cleanser and on-the-spot treatment are both from Mario Badescu. You can get the Acne Facial Cleanser and Spot Drying Lotion individually or as a set and they work amazingly together to tackle breakouts from all angles.

The finishing touch
Primer is the glow-getter’s holy grail when the sun isn’t shining. Once you’ve lathered on the moisturiser, you want to lock that hydration in and create a beautiful base that will help your skin to glow as bright as the Christmas tree – while giving your makeup the longevity it needs.
Our top 3 primers for the season:1). Yves Saint Laurent Touce Éclat Blur £30 (for that Christmassy, glittery glow)
2). Too Faced Hangover Primer £26 (for obvious reasons)
3). The Ordinary High-Adherence Silicone Primer £3.90 (for a look that lasts all night- on a budget).
So, that’s it. The gift of good skin, from us to you- you’re very welcome. And if you want to complete the glowy look with a power lip combo- check out our Christmas Lipstick guide.
