Sleek, Straight, and Shiny: The 90s Hair Trend That Just Made a Comeback

From Chanel’s SS22 runway to Megan Fox’s Instagram, there’s one 90s hair trend we just can’t get enough of: super shiny straight hair. This style dominated the 90s with the likes of Beyonce to Courtney Cox’s iconic Monica Geller sporting the look and we’re glad it’s back.

Here, we take a look at the trend’s revival and the best products for you to use when recreating it at home.

Chanel’s SS22 runway saw models like Luna Bijl and Anna Ewers blind the crowd with their super shiny locks! The 90s hair perfectly complemented the 90s revival collection created by Virginie Viard. Chanel’s hair artists styled the look in different ways, demonstrating how the straight hair trend does not have to be same-ish. Some models wore headbands, others rocked tiny bows in pastel hues to match the tone of the collection.

As shown by Balmain’s SS22 show, 51 year old fashion icon Naomi Cambell is still setting our favourite hair trends. The model confidently stormed the catwalk and her long locks were set in a straight and sleek, centre-parted style that almost took our attention off the stunning all- black cut out dress she showcased.

And it wasn’t just on the runway itself that the trend took off. As Megan Fox sat front row to support her beau MGK walk the runway for D&G’s FW22 Collection, the star’s hair didn’t have a crinkle in sight. She later posted on Instagram recapping her time at the D&G show and showcased her centre-parted, dark straight hair which completed her all black lace bodysuit look.

Jlo added her own twist to the look, styling curtain bangs alongside straight hair with not a single strand out of place. The look was achieved by her talented hairdresser Chris Appleton, who later showcased the look to his Instagram followers.

Another fun take on the look was showcased by Gigi Hadid on Fendace’s SS22 runway, as the model’s ultra- straight hair was pinned back by two 90s- style clips, demonstrating another fun and funky way to rock the style.
