The 66th annual American Grammys were held last night on the 4th of February 2024 in Los Angeles. 2024 has been an incredible year for the music industry and the Grammys is one of the biggest nights in the year which aims to honour and celebrate the immense creative contributions of musical artists. It is also an important night for fashion with the industry walking the red carpet in amazing designs, carefully crafted looks which hint at their own artistry and free reign over their personal brand of expression.
Celebrities walked down the red carpet at the Crypto.com Arena in LA, putting their best style forward as they anticipated a night of amazing wins across the board. This year’s Grammys were dominated by female artist wins with musicians like Taylor Swift, Victoria Monét, Joni Mitchell, Miley Cyrus and Billie Eilish winning the award in major categories. The 2024 Grammys became the year of the women in all ways conceivable. However, for us, the fashion at the event made everyone a winner.

Taylor Swift

Last night was an incredible feat for musician-songwriter, Taylor Swift as she won ‘Album of the Year’ for the fourth time in a row, setting a new record. She accepted the award in a gorgeous white, custom Schiaparelli gown with black, velvet elbow-length gloves. The gown was corseted at the top and flowed beautifully into a train with a slit starting around the hip. For glam, Swift opted for her classic red lip and side swept hair. The singer accessorized with Giuseppe Zanottipumps and a watch, choker necklace by Lorraine Schwartz that was set to midnight, a nod to the album for which she won. The entire ensemble was crafted to announce her new era as she revealed her upcoming new album, ‘The Tortured Poets Department’.
Victoria Monét

Victoria Monét won big as she took home the Grammy for the ‘Best R&B Album’ for her album, ‘Jaguar II’ as well as ‘Best New Artist’. The singer-songwriter wore a beautiful, mermaid cut, golden-bronze, custom Versace gown to the event. The gown had a meticulously, structured corset with draping details on the waist. The satin gown gathered in a trail at the bottom and made the look even better. Monét wore jewellery by Bulagri donning a version of their Serpenti necklace. For glam, Monét opted for a classic Hollywood glow and slicked back hair with a framing piece.
Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus was nominated in two categories, ‘Album of the Year’ and ‘Record of the Year’ for which she won the latter for her song, ‘Flowers’. Cyrus wore a custom creation by Maison Margiela designed for her by John Galliano. Her look is heavily inspired by ancient Egypt with exquisite gold chainmail drapping her body and a breastplate detailing on the top as well as a waist belt. She is wearing Louboutin x Maison Margiela Tabi heels in gold that were previewed in Maison Margiela’s collection furing Spring/Summer couture 2024.
Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa was nominated for ‘Song of the Year’ and wore a stunning, custom Courreges gown by Nicolas Difelice to the event. The silver deep neck gown was covered with layers of tassles and had cut-outs on the sides of the hip. Lipa wore an incredibly intricate piece of jewellery by Tiffany and Co. with the Tiffany High Jewelry Pisces necklace that featured a 23-carat orange sapphire. The singer also wore statement rings and glammed up with soft waves and nude makeup.
Ella Balinska

English actress, Ella Balinska wore a sheer, black Dolce & Gabbana creation. The gown had a plunging v-neck and was layered over black lingerie and garters. Balinska paired the gown with sheer black gloves, black pumps and decided to go for no jewellery. For glam, Balinska and her makeup artist, Justine Marjan decided to go for subtle glam, and a more fresh palette with her hair being put into a messy bun with a fringe framing her face.

Pop-star Bebe Rexha wore a black, custom Robert Wun gown. The singer chose to look very classic Hollywood. The gown was cut into a mermaid silhouette which fit Rexha perfectly. The off-shoulder neckline and cape extending from the sleeves added a bit of drama to the look. Rexha wore Jimmy Choo shoes and diamond jewellery by Graziel Gems and Effyas well as a Judith Leiber, black, sequined clutch with a encrusted rose motif. For glam, the singer opted for a a full, classic red carpet glam complete with the starlet waves.
Doja Cat

Doja Cat looked edgy and stunning as always in custom Dilara. The singer-rapper was nominated for ‘Best Pop Solo Performance’ , ‘Best Melodic Rap Performance’ and ‘Best Rap Song’. Doja’s nude Dilara gown was partly sheer and had a boned corset on the top and remained form-fitting through-out which looked seamless on her. The sheer fabric let her tattoos show through, adding to the outfit. She paired the outfit with Alexander Wang’s Destiny Heel in red. For accessories, there were long, dangling diamond, sword statement earrings and crosses by Loree Rodkin. For glam, Doja Cat donned a bleached, buzzcut and a red lip, completing her look with glasses.
Ice Spice

The rapper was nominated for ‘Best New Artist’ as well as ‘Best Rap Song’ alongside Nicki Minaj for ‘Barbie World’. IceSpice wore a custom ensemble from BabyPhat by Timothy Luke. The look comprised of a denim co-ord set comprising of a jacket lined with fur and a denim skirt with a trail which had a front open slit. The denim was embellished with embroidering on the back pockets of the skirt as well as buckles and a belt. Icespice accesorised the look with rings and a large pendant of the cross. For glam the rapper had her signature, flaming orange her in natural curls and glowy makeup.
Ayra Starr
The Nigerian Singer, Ayra Starr was nominated for ‘Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance’ for her song ‘Rush’. Starr was styled in a custom, bright blue, two-piece gown by Candice Cuoco in collaboration with Jeniece Blanchet who embellished the gown with a crystal piece that flowed down the torse from the decolletage. The gown was a silk chiffon with draped sleeves that flowed and swirled around Starr. The shoes were by Rene Caovilla and for glam, Starr kept her hair open, styled to be sleek and straight with a centre parting. Her makeup was done by Patrick Ta and they decide to give her cut-crease and a glossy lip lined by a darker lip liner and an impeccable base.
