THE FASHION AWARDS: BEST-DRESSED LIST

The British Fashion Council hosted their annual fashion awards on the 4th of December,

2023. The event took place in the Royal Albert Hall in London. The fashion awards serve as

the main event to fundraise for the BFC Foundation to highlight the work of new creatives

as well as the excellence of the British fashion industry. The BFC Foundation aims at

funding the future growth of the industry as it grants funds for education, and business

mentoring for young creatives.

Winners of the night included the likes of Edward Enninful as he was awarded for being a

trailblazer, Charlotte Tilbury won special recognition and Sarah Burton won ‘Designer of the

Year’ for her work at Alexander McQueen. The nominees included model, Paloma Elsesser

and Liu Wen for ‘Model of the Year’ and designers Aaron Esh and Chet Lo along with three

others were nominated for the ‘BFC Foundation Award’.

As it poured down on the red carpet, hosted by retired stylist, Law Roach and fashion

commentator Julia Hobbs— models, actors, musicians and artists of all kinds came

together from all over to honour British fashion creatives in fabulously crafted ensembles.

Here are a few of our favourites.

1. MAYA JAMA

Reality television star, Maya Jama chose to bring the glam with this white corset gown by

Dolce & Gabbana. The gown had high slits and added more drama with a voluminous

ruffled cape. She was styled by Rhea Francois.

2. ANNE HATHAWAY

The actress, Anne Hathaway was dressed in archival Valentino for the awards. She was in a

cream, tasselled gown which made her look elegant, classy and just her signature

phenomenal self. She completed her look with jewellery from Bvlgari.

3. WOLFIE CINDY

Influencer Cindy Kimberly was dressed in Di Petsa. She wore a white, two-piece set with a

flowing skirt on the bottom and a signature Di Petsa, wet-look crop top. She accessorized

her look with beaded, diamond jewellery by Messika, adorning her hair and midriff.

4. ROSIE HUNTINGTON-WHITELEY

The model chose to wear a gorgeous black gown with cut-outs at the midriff and a long slit

in the front. The gown was completed with a scarf accent. The model opted for jewellery by

Tiffany & Co.

Actor Lily James wore an embellished navy blue halter gown with cut-out detailing in the

front and a broach detail. The dress had a high slit with a bow at the waist. The actress

styled the look with minimal jewellery, nude glam and slicked-back hair.

6. ALEXA CHUNG

Model and TV personality, Alexa Chung wore a custom Marco Capaldo from his

Spring/Summer ‘23 collection. The model follows suit with the metallic trend and opts for a

dress with an interesting silhouette mirroring a bustle underneath the mid-length gown.

The model chose to go for her quintessential cool, chic makeup and loose waves for her

hair.

7. SIMONE ASHLEY

Bridgerton actress, Simone Ashley wore a white, halter-neck Valentino mini-dress with

cutouts of embroidered flowers covering the body of the dress. Ashley completed the look

with sultry nude makeup and sleek open hair. She was styled by Rebecca Corbin Murray.

8. LEIGH-ANNE PINNOCK

The musician wore nominated designer, Chet Lo’s creation to the red carpet. The knitted

red, halter-neck gown was covered in the designer’s signature, “durian” spiky knit with cutouts

on the sides of the torso. Leigh-Anne finished her look with an updo and a smokey

eye.

9. SARA SAMPAIO

The Portuguese model wore British designer, Richard Quinn’s creation with this beautifully

layered, ruffled white gown. The look was paired with black gloves and jewellery by

Swarovski. She finishes the outfit with a slicked-back bun and a black smokey eye.

10. AWENG CHUOL

The model wore an ensemble by Vetements, layering the beige-coloured suede gown with

an XL puffer jacket.

11. CHARLI XCX

The singer wore a vintage Jean Paul Gaultier from his 2004 Spring/ Summer collection. The

ruched, yellow midi-dress was paired with black pumps and graphic eyeliner to complete

the look.

12. MUNROE BERGDORF

The English model and activist wore this purple, corseted gown by Robert Wu. The gown

was embellished with panelling and a lace-up towards the front of the gown. The silhouette

adopted a mermaid cut towards the bottom. Bergdorf finished her look with a dark, bold lip.
